The World Alliance for Efficient Solutions, established by the Solar Impulse Foundation, brings together the main players involved in developing, financing or promoting products, services, processes and technologies that protect the environment in a profitable way.
The initiator and founder of the Foundation, Dr Bertrand Piccard, states : “Today, thousands of solutions exist that can boost economic growth while preserving the nature, but they are often hidden in start-ups or research labs. They remain unknown to decision makers and are not implemented at industry level. So few people realize that everyone can use them and how profitable they have become”.
The objective of the Foundation is to federate the players of the field in clean technologies and shed light on existing efficient solutions to fast-track their implementation.
Recently, the Foundation team announced that Agolin’s solution to “reduce methane production in dairy cows and beef cattle” has received the endorsement of the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions based on the assessment made by independent experts. Agolin SA is a validated member of the “World Alliance” and awarded as an Efficient Solution since 2018!
AGOLIN SA is proud to be an affiliate partner of Climate-KIC. Climate-KIC is one of three Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) created in 2010 by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
The EIT is an EU body whose mission is to create sustainable growth. AGOLIN supports this mission in the field of animal nutrition by addressing climate change mitigation and efficient use of feed resources. For more information, visit climate-kic.org.
Carbon Trust Assurance Ltd helps organisations contribute to and benefit from a more sustainable future through carbon reduction, resource efficiency strategies and commercialising low carbon technologies. More information about Carbon Trust see https://www.carbontrust.com/home/
AGOLIN SA is delighted to announce that they have been awarded a Certificate of Achievement from The Carbon Trust Assurance Ltd for their dairy and cattle product, AGOLIN RUMINANT, in the reduction of methane emissions and improvement in feed efficiency.
This breakthrough is a first in terms of an independently assessed and certified in-feed additive which not only improves feed efficiency but also significantly reduces methane emissions from cows.
The Carbon Trust is satisfied that AGOLIN RUMINANT is an effective tool for reducing cattle enteric methane emissions. In their opinion, correct use of AGOLIN RUMINANT within an average diet based in the EU reduces :
a) dairy enteric methane emissions by 14 % per litre of milk and
b) dairy and beef enteric methane production by 10 % per day.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United nations (FAO) it is estimated that of the 50 billion tonnes (CO2 – eq) of greenhouse gases (GHG) created by all sources each year around 2 billion tonnes comes directly from cows and beef animals. If AGOLIN RUMINANT was fed to these animals the saving would be around 300 million tonnes of GHG emissions.
The increase of GHG’s in the environment contributes directly to global warming and is a major source of concern in terms of weather changes, sea level rises and a range of other environmental consequences that are expected to impact globally in a negative way.
